As the name implies, HSS planer blades are planer knives made from high-speed steel (HSS). They are commonly used to smooth and shape wood surfaces by furniture makers, woodworkers, and carpenters. When damaged or dull, HSS planer blades can be sharpened or replaced. Compared with TCT planer blades, HSS planer blades are sharper, which means smoother planing. With higher toughness, HSS planer blades won’t crack during operation but require more frequent sharpening.
