1.Chips around holes after drilling

2.Entrance hole is small but exit side is big
This problem may be induced by bit bouncing and misalignment of your main shaft and quick change joint. If there’s such problem happened, you need to check the bit or change the main shaft and the joint.
3.There are drilling smoke and drill bits get dark
Serious central bit bouncing or central bit and shaft are misalign, no positive or back taper, small main relief angle(it should be 12°to 15°), deflection angle of the main rear angle is opposite to rotation of bits will all lead to drilling smoke and make drill bits get dark. But it may also caused by deficiency of machine tool pressure. If glue which used in boards is not dried or there’s too much glue in boards will make your drills getting dark, too.
4.Chip removal is not smooth or even don’t work
To solve this problem, you may check if there’re problems like small spiral groove or helicalangle, transition between alloy and cutter body is not smooth enough, primary rear angle is too small to be a secondary value,center tip is too short and thick. Also, before drilling, you need to check whether your dowel drill bits suit your machine or not(2800-3500 RPM is a normal value). Besides, too much glue and if glue is still wet in wooden board will also cause this problem. Or, you may make a simple mistake—make a wrong direction of the rotation.
5.Chips heed up on flank surface
This problem may happen when there is too much glue in processing materials, just change the material you are going to processing or change your bits. In addition, when drill bitsreaches phase transition, it starts to wear seriously, which will also cause a lot of cumulative chips on rear cutter surface during drilling. And unreasonable production of split cutting edge will also cause a lot of cumulative chips on back surface during drilling.
6.Drill bit bends or breaks when drilling
This problem mainly happened on small size dowel drill bits or extension dowel drill bits.We will talk about this in two aspects. First, from the bit itself.
